What is a Trust Deed?
A Trust Deed is a form of debt help plan that is open to applicants from Scotland.
It is a formal agreement between you and your creditors where you agree to pay a lower monthly payment over a fixed period (normally 3 years). Once the Trust Deed plan is agreed, your creditors cannot include additional interest or other charges to your account. It also protects you from creditor demands and, once the Trust Deed is complete, the remainder of your debt is totally written off.
A Trust Deed is similar to an IVA which is open to residents from England and Wales. Main benefits of a Trust Deed:
- Potentially debt free in 3 years
- Only pay what you can afford
- Get full protection from all your exisiting creditors
- All interest and charges are frozen
A Trust Deed is a solution to people who feel their debts are out of control and is a real alternative to Sequestration, Bankruptcy equivalent in Scotland.
